Trustees approve 90-day extension of delinquent-tax contract in 4–3 vote

The Mercedes ISD Board of Trustees approved a 90-day extension of the district's delinquent-tax service agreement with Linebarger Goggan Blair & Sampson, LLP and a related resolution under Tex. Gov't Code §2254.1036 on Aug. 20.
The extension motion passed 4–3; trustees recorded Mr. Rodriguez, Mrs. Vallejo, Mr. Garcia and Mrs. Delgado in favor and Mr. Hernandez, Mr. Howell and Mr. Martinez opposed on the initial extension motion. The resolution mirroring that extension under state procurement code likewise passed 4–3.
Administration indicated the extension is for legal services necessary to the collection of delinquent property taxes; the business office will carry out contract execution and public-notice requirements during the 90-day extension.
