Medina Valley ISD board upholds lower‑level grievance decision, directs release of case numbers

Blane Nash moved, and Matt Castiglione seconded, "to uphold the District Administration's lower level decision and direct Administration to provide the CPS and Sheriff's Office Case Numbers to the parent." All four board members present — Nathan Fillinger, Matt Castiglione, Joe Biediger and Blane Nash — voted in favor and the motion passed.
The board held two closed sessions during the meeting under Texas Government Code Section 551.071 (consultation with attorney) and Section 551.074 (personnel). Board President Nathan Fillinger announced the first closed session at 8:01 a.m. and indicated the board would reconvene at 8:08 a.m.; minutes state no action took place in that closed session. The minutes record a subsequent closed session addressing the grievance and personnel matters and show the board reconvened into open session at 8:46 a.m.
Minutes do not include a public transcript of the grievance hearing testimony or detailed findings on the merits; the minutes record the procedural outcome and the board's formal motion and vote. The board's instruction to administration is limited to providing the CPS and sheriff's office case numbers to the parent as recorded in the motion.
The board also considered — but took no action on — the superintendent's recommendation for which administrator would be assigned as Transportation Director. The special meeting adjourned at 8:47 a.m.
The meeting minutes list absent trustees Jennilea Campbell, Jason Bonney and Ben Juarez. The board approved the minutes at its October 28, 2024 meeting, per the record.
