Council approves $894,365 headworks contract with JCI to screen wastewater influent

Jason Brimhall of Sunrise Engineering told the council the project installs a screening system near the influent structure to remove debris before it reaches the lagoons. He reported six bids were received and JCI submitted a base bid of $857,389.40 plus an alternate of $36,976.16 to replace a portion of the flume structure, for a total of $894,365.56. Brimhall said JCI's proximity to the site likely reduced mobilization costs and noted one competitor later reported an error in its alternate pricing.
Council Member Stan Soper moved to approve the contract award to JCI for $894,365.56; Council Member Laurel Workman seconded the motion. The motion carried on the roll call of council members present. Council members said the project will improve operations and extend the life of the lagoons.
