Wastewater Superintendent Joshua Woodruff told the board that blower #2 in the pretreatment building is out of commission and likely will not be replaced until next year because replacements have long lead times; the system can operate on the remaining three blowers in the short term.
Woodruff said the pretreatment building also needs generator work and presented a county-contract quote from FM Generator for $4,441.96. Councilperson Donna Whitelaw moved and Councilperson Sheridan Swinyer seconded a motion to have FM Generator perform the repair; Supervisor Davina Thurston and the two councilpersons present voted AYE and the motion carried. The board discussed attempts to secure alternative quotes but Woodruff said FM Generator is the countywide contractor and the town is constrained by the contract for timely service.
Woodruff also provided the board with an SPDES permit summary and past sample data; he said the DEC may move to recommend annual SPDES permitting. The approved generator repair addresses immediate reliability concerns while staff monitors blower replacement timing and budget implications for future capital planning.
