Jackson Township highlights restructuring, new crest and $1.4M in grant awards

Superintendent Nicole Permili presented a year‑in‑review that emphasized district restructuring and investments to preserve programs after difficult budget choices. She told the board that the district "applied for and received over $1,400,000 in grant money this year," funds the district will use across curriculum, summer tutoring and preschool expansion.
The superintendent noted curriculum and literacy work — creation of model classrooms and a K‑6 math coach — and said 27 students will receive the seal of biliteracy. Permili also previewed a draft new Jackson School District crest intended to reflect the district's mission pillars: scholarship, character and initiative; she said the crest is a draft and will be tweaked based on feedback.
Student recognitions were woven into the report: a scholarship recipient (Madison Rathen) and individual student awards in arts and film (Sabrina Tamayo, Daniel DiPiero) were named and congratulated during the presentation.
