Board approves plan to order bright tick-warning signs for parks and near New Castle Elementary

Board members said ticks have been unusually numerous this season and discussed placing attention-getting signs in parks and along trails. Nancy Myers said the signs will likely be outsourced because they require more detailed printing than the town typically produces in-house.
"It'll be like a piece of paper. Right?" one member asked; another said they pictured the sign as roughly 8.5 by 11 and bright yellow with a picture of a tick. Members suggested placing signs at Battery Park, smaller wooded parks and "right at New Castle Elementary," and agreed staff would coordinate with the county about signage along the industrial trail.
