Organizers confirm 17 vendors, blood bank and immunizations for Sept. 19 health fair

Nancy Myers said the town has 17 non-city vendors confirmed for the Sept. 19 health fair and that the primary health activities will be at the firehouse with blood donations staged inside the senior center.
"Paws for People has confirmed, so they'll be sending some doggos to walk around," the chair said, describing plans for crowd management and outreach. Myers noted that the blood mobile will not be available but the Blood Bank of Delmarva will accept donations inside the senior center, and Walgreens has committed to offer flu immunizations. Members discussed asking Walgreens about measles and updated COVID shots.
The board reviewed outreach tactics — flyers, a community table at the farmer's market, QR codes for vendor surveys and a mix of paper and online evaluation forms. Staff reported targeted outreach to about 70 organizations and confirmed participation by health and social-service groups including the Epilepsy Foundation of Delaware, National Alliance on Mental Illness and DNREC air-quality staff. Brian Madaway emphasized environmental justice partners and the blood-bank coordination already in place.
Organizers decided to set the event hours to 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for better vendor flow and to follow up with vendors about available services and staffing levels ahead of the fair.
