Council placed Ordinance 10-2024 (amending chapter 122 on peddlers, solicitors and transient merchants) on first reading, discussed fee placement in the code and then voted to waive further readings and adopt it. Staff explained the fees themselves will be listed in the accompanying fee resolution (Resolution 81-2024).
On Ordinance 11-2024, addressing dance halls (chapter 124), staff and council clarified the provisions and whether food trucks or peddlers are covered by the permit language. Staff emphasized that citizens can ask for permits or check with city hall if someone comes to a door soliciting services: "If they call, call city hall and we'll get that remedy." (Speaker 6)
Council voted to waive the second and third readings for both ordinances and approved Resolution 81-2024 to set permit, zoning and other fees as discussed.
