City manager outlines summer schedule, Westbrook closure and Hooke Road updates

City Manager Elaine delivered the manager’s report on June 4, outlining the summer calendar and several infrastructure items. She said the next council meeting is scheduled for July 16 at 7:30 p.m., offices will be closed June 19 for Juneteenth and July 3 in observance of Independence Day, and a shredding event will be held July 11 at the Clayton Government Center. She also noted Caterpillar marked a 15th anniversary of operations with the city.
On public-works items, Elaine said, “Westbrook Road will be closed beginning, June 8 between Union Road and Hoke Road for the installation of a new culvert,” a project undertaken with the city of Trotwood and expected to take about three weeks. She updated council on Hooke Road sanitary sewer installation and described a recent utility strike involving a gas main that was repaired quickly; the Hooke Road project aims for a November finish. Councilors asked about fiber-optic work in rights-of-way and were told Frontier holds permits and should repair disturbances and notify residents before work in some back-yard right-of-way locations.
