Board finds John Clark’s boathouse foundation repair exempt from shoreline permit

After discussion the board agreed the proposal met the ordinance’s maintenance/repair exemption and voted 4–0 that no planning-board permit was required. George Seal asked for a motion to dismiss the application; the board voted in favor.
During the exchange, members noted the DEP permit-by-rule process and that heavy equipment and vegetation disturbance could require separate DEP review if work extended beyond simple repair. Clark said he preferred to “do it the right way” and would pursue required DEP permits if later work required them. The board advised the applicant to secure any DEP approvals and kept the decision narrowly scoped to the foundation repair under the boathouse.
