Shane Anderson, Director of School Safety and Security, reviewed his department’s responsibilities and described Stop It, an anonymous reporting app that students and staff can use to report suspicious or threatening behavior, threats of violence or self‑harm, substance abuse and other concerns. He said reports may be submitted via the app, online through the website, or by phone and that the tool is intended to encourage a see‑something, says‑something culture among students.
Anderson also told trustees the Texas Education Agency uses the Sentinel database to track threats statewide and to record drills, door checks and safety audits; districts have access to school safety audits to respond quickly to problems such as doors not latching. He said new fencing around elementary playgrounds will be added following the recent bond election, and staff are exploring lockdown push buttons on staff ID badges and door‑contact beepers as grant funding becomes available.
