The chair explained the appointment can be made for the statutory interim period and a committee (Kathleen, the chair, Ken and Jeff) was formed to start recruiting a permanent replacement.
A motion to adopt the resolution was made and seconded; the board discussed timing and the need to declare the vacancy before appointing an interim official. The action is administrative and the acting appointment will allow the office to continue functions while a search proceeds.
