The Glynn County Finance Committee on Aug. 6 denied a request to refund interest and penalties totaling $5,600 for parcel 0406594, a unit at 201 Neptune Road. County staff said the parcel's 2024–2025 tax bills and delinquent notices were mailed to the address on file; in February the parcel was scheduled for the June 2026 delinquent tax sale and the county's tax‑sale partner (GCS) skip‑traced and contacted the property owner, who then paid the two years and updated the mailing address.
Dessa Harrison of the Office of the Tax Commissioner told the committee, "Failure to receive a tax bill does not relieve the taxpayer of the obligation to pay," and said the tax commissioner's office followed proper procedures. A motion to deny the refund request was moved and seconded and carried by voice/hand vote; the transcript does not include a roll‑call tally. The committee's denial means the owner remains responsible for the assessed interest and penalties; staff did not indicate additional relief options on the record.
