Board backs CTE/CCMR study, directs surveys for cheer and volleyball
Summary
Trustees authorized CTE and CCMR exploratory adjustments and directed student surveys and cost analyses on adding competitive cheer and volleyball for grades 3–8; results to be reviewed at the December meeting.
The board authorized Mrs. Cindy Bessire to explore adjustments related to Career and Technical Education and College, Career and Military Readiness (CCMR), allowing administration to implement changes as needed. Trustee Steve Clifton moved for the exploration authority and Trustee Dusty Stone seconded; the action passed unanimously.
On separate discussion items, district staff said they will survey female students in grades 3–8 and complete cost analyses to evaluate introducing competitive cheer and adding volleyball programs. The board scheduled review of the survey and cost-analysis results at its Dec. 19 meeting; no votes were taken on program adoption during the Nov. 12 session.
