At the Oct. 21 meeting, Representative Pat Curry presented House resolutions recognizing Midway High School's softball and baseball teams for winning the 2025 UIL 6A State Championships. Senate proclamations honoring the teams were issued by Senator Brian Birdwell and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick and presented to coaches Eddie Cornblum, Ben Basden, and Taylor Ellis. The board also congratulated seven Midway High students—Everett Beaudin, Dillon Doss, Elizabeth Eggleston, Emma Haferkamp, Valerie Owens, Stella Raimondo, and Ian Song—named 2025 National Merit Commended Scholars.
Board members and administration used the recognitions to highlight student achievement and district leadership under Superintendent Dr. Allen. The meeting minutes indicate the board adopted a Teachers' Day proclamation and recognized principals during National Principals Month, with Jennifer Douglas presenting gift certificates for principals.
