Administrators told the board on Oct. 21 that rising interest in culinary programming and career pathways prompted a proposal to add Advanced Culinary Arts to Midway High School curriculum for the 2026–27 school year. The district also proposed a Practicum in Commercial Photography designed to provide students with real‑world industry connections and to help more students become CTE completers tracked by the Texas Education Agency. The new Practicum in Engineering course was included and approved as part of the consent agenda.
District materials state these course changes will go into effect for the 2026–27 school year and are intended to expand career and technical education options for students. The board approved the consent agenda item covering the Practicum in Engineering course during the meeting; implementation planning and TEA reporting, if required, will be handled by administration.
