The Brecksville-Broadview Heights Board of Education on July 9 approved a personnel recommendation to hire an intervention specialist who is transferring from another district, the board announced at a special meeting called to consider certified-staff actions.
Jeff, a district staff member who presented the recommendation, said the meeting was scheduled because of a July 10 deadline that affects certified employees who wish to leave another district without contract penalties. "So that's the reason for the special meeting," he said, adding that the hire is intended to place the specialist at the elementary building to provide a "least restrictive environment" for several special-education students. "We have an individual that we're hiring as an intervention specialist who's coming from another district, to us."
The chair read the resolution text and asked for a motion: "Resolved item 2 a personnel recommendation is resolved to approve certified personnel recommendations as attached." A board member moved and a second was recorded; the board then conducted a roll-call vote that resulted in a 3-0 approval. The chair announced, "Item passes 3 0."
The action covers a single certified hire listed on the meeting's posted personnel recommendations. The board did not schedule public comment for this special meeting, and no other personnel items were considered. The board also noted its next regular meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 14, 2026.
