Medina ISD trustees approve routine items, receive plan review and reports

President Brad Zirkel called the Medina Independent School District Board of Trustees to order at 6:00 p.m., noting a quorum and that the meeting notice had been posted under the Texas Open Meetings Act. "President, Brad Zirkel called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. and ordered that the record show that a quorum of board members was present," the minutes record.

The board approved a slate of routine items by recorded motions: approval of the February 24, 2025 minutes; enrollment in the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Facilities Assessment Program; TASB Local Policy Update 124; acceptance of resignations; teacher contract approvals; and several contracts and facility actions. David Derry moved to approve the minutes; AJ Stern moved to approve the district depository contract; and Brian Hill moved to approve repainting the competition gym floor. Most motions carried unanimously (6-0); one contract vote recorded an abstention by President Zirkel on the occupational therapy contract, which carried 5-0 with one abstention.

The meeting included reports from Superintendent Lindsey Kunz, Business Manager Charles Orr and Principal Gary Oliver. Superintendent Kunz also presented a preliminary review of the District of Innovation Plan renewal. The board entered closed session under Texas Government Code Chapter 551.074 at 6:51 p.m. and returned to open session at 7:04 p.m.; the meeting adjourned at 8:16 p.m.
