Engineer Lucas Jones told the council the city had received an application from Xcel Energy to identify routes for gas main replacements and to review permits. Jones said, "Xcel should be in town on August 3, 2026," and that "eighty percent of the town will be getting replacement lines" from old steel mains to HDPE pipe. He told the council Xcel has provided escrow for permit review and inspections and that the project will take roughly 70–80 days.
Jones said he has plans available so residents can see whether their home's gas line will be replaced and that staff will coordinate inspections and permit review. He also noted that final PFA grant funds for a watermain project would be available July 29, which may be relevant for coordinating utility work.
