County staff reviewed a lease that will place the Lamont Schoolhouse under a multi‑year arrangement with the Jefferson County Homeschool Association. The county said it has repaired the roof and fenced the perimeter, surveyed the parcel for accurate boundaries and will transfer maintenance responsibilities to the lessee under the proposed agreement.
"Staff moves for approval of this process for the lease," staff told the board, recommending the arrangement as a low‑cost way to return the building to active use by local educators and families. Commissioners asked for clarity on permitted uses and the lease terms, and staff responded that the association will use the space for classes, group meetings and occasional events but it will not operate as a general community center unrelated to its school function.
The board moved and seconded the item and approved the lease; staff said a nominal monthly rate and ongoing maintenance expectations are included in the written agreement.
