The Los Banos City Council ratified the city manager's approval of an employment agreement for Brandon Dorenbrusch as Fire Chief on Aug. 5.
City Manager described a multi-month selection process and recommended Dorenbrusch, who had been serving in an interim capacity. The appointment was set to take effect Aug. 16, 2026, with a base salary of $186,315 annually and additional certificate pay ($75 per month for Firefighter II certificate and $225 per month for Company Officer certificate) and education-incentive pay. The employment terms also included vacation accrual (120 hours/year), sick leave (96 hours/year), and administrative leave (96 hours/fiscal year).
Council voted unanimously to ratify the agreement. Chief Dorenbrusch thanked the manager, council and staff and said he ‘‘considers this a true honor and a privilege to continue my service here in the city of Los Banos.’’ Staff said a badge‑pinning ceremony will be scheduled and publicly announced.
