Jefferson County to launch redesigned website, developer says it will be mobile and ADA friendly

"I'm Emily Peppermint, and I have, I was so excited to be chosen to build the new county website," Peppermint said during a presentation, describing streamlined navigation, better site‑wide search and mobile responsiveness. She said the team migrated existing content, reset navigation based on resident tasks (resident/business/government), and built accessibility features such as descriptive alt text, proper heading structure and full keyboard navigation for screen readers.
Commissioners asked whether online transactions and parks registrations will be handled through the new site. County staff said the county uses PayRock for online payments and that staff are working to integrate payments and event registration with departmental systems. Peppermint said staff training and a third‑party accessibility audit are planned before launch; she added the audit will produce compliance feedback and a firm that can issue a WCAG 2.1 compliance letter.
The presentation closed with a brief question‑and‑answer session about payments and parks integration. Commissioners praised Peppermint for local responsiveness and thanked staff for cross‑department coordination. The manager said staff will circulate a staging link for final review before going live.
