SentriTech tells Town of Babylon board it would bring about 30 jobs with move to revised Crescent Group site

Clinton Townsend, owner of SentriTech, told the Town of Babylon Planning Board on Aug. 3 that the plastics‑machinery manufacturer plans to relocate to a revised Crescent Group Realty site and expects "to move a minimum of 12 jobs over" and "to create a minimum of 18 more jobs for a total of 30 jobs at this particular location." Townsend said the move would keep manufacturing jobs on Long Island and provide a modern, safer workplace for welders, electricians and other tradespeople.
Townsend described SentriTech's business as selling converting machinery and spare parts domestically and abroad, and said customers choose among virgin, post-consumer recycled or biodegradable film blends depending on end‑use. Board members raised questions about biodegradable materials in pharmaceutical and incontinence applications; Townsend said some end uses preclude biodegradable films and that the company sells machines to converting firms rather than direct consumer brands. He also outlined logistics: small deliveries daily, and larger tractor‑trailer shipments of finished machines about twice a month, typically loaded during a one‑hour window between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.
