"The administration recommends approval of the athletic training support and sponsorship agreement between El Paso Children's Hospital Corporation, DBA, El Paso Children's Hospital, and Fabens ISD as presented," the superintendent stated during the presentation. Hospital representatives described monthly and quarterly training for athletic trainers, coaches and nurses and said there would be outreach opportunities for student athletes and parents. Trustees asked whether students would receive training and about the length of the agreement (the hospital proposed three‑ or five‑year terms); hospital staff confirmed the program includes student and parent outreach.
Board discussion also touched on marketing partnerships tied to the sponsorship and on language to support a second trainer should the district need one. The motion to approve the sponsorship carried in open session after trustee questions about program scope and duration.
