New board leadership calls for transparency, town halls and restorative justice after fractious meeting

Trustee Adriana Quinones asked the superintendent and cabinet to provide a clear view of budget allocations and proposed a Saturday budget presentation on Jan. 18, 2025. President Serrano said she will agendize a series of special sessions to deeply review the budget in January and February and proposed a ticketing system and regular town halls in each district quadrant to improve constituent service and reduce repetitive public complaints.
The meeting included heated procedural moments and public attendance in support of Wilson High; President Serrano also read a closing passage and called for a moment of silence for a student who passed away. Several trustees urged collegiality and called for nonpartisan focus on students and operations. Trustees also discussed wanting an audit presentation and community workshops so residents can better understand fiscal choices and the district's multi-year position.
