The Stonington Planning and Zoning Commission voted to approve a special-use permit for Mystic Links, a proposed membership-based indoor golf practice facility at 23 Clara Drive. On a motion by Ryan Dacey the commission approved the requested waivers and the special-use application, including one condition that activities be conducted indoors at all times; the chair abstained and the motion passed.
Applicant representative David described the proposal as "a 2,700 square foot facility" with three simulator stations, instruction and youth programming, and hours planned between 6 a.m. and 10 p.m. Staff and commissioners asked about amplified music and liquor licensing; the applicant said there would be no amplified live music and no liquor service planned. Local resident Jim Turner told the commission he viewed the use as appropriate for the underutilized space, noting the site had "ample parking, minimal impact to traffic."
