After the vote, Dr. Cris Valdez addressed the board and expressed gratitude and enthusiasm for the opportunity. "I'm so excited and I'm happy. I've always shared and I did share with the board I don't know what it is but I love Mission... I adore Mission... I can't wait to get started," Valdez said. Legal counsel Eden Ramirez reminded trustees that state law requires a 21-day waiting period before the board may approve the superintendent's contract.
