The Mission CISD Board of Trustees voted Sept. 11 to approve Change Order #2 that adds 21 delay days to indoor air quality projects at Cavazos, Midkiff and Salinas elementary schools.
Ricardo Rivera, assistant superintendent for operations, told trustees the delay days relate to repairs on walls and that the district is not being assessed additional monetary charges for the extra days. Mr. George Castaneda of DBR Engineering and Mr. Marcos Rios of CAHS participated in the discussion; Castaneda noted the work stemmed from wall repairs and Rios said technicians were dispatched to address issues at Cavazos.
Trustee Jerry Zamora asked how long the repairs would take; Rios answered, "It should be back and running today." Trustee Dolores Reyna asked about schedule completion dates; administrators said they expected substantial completion near Sept. 21, 2024. Trustee Veronica "Betty" R. Mendoza moved to approve the change order and Trustee Dolores Reyna seconded; the motion passed unanimously.
The board approved the timeline adjustment and directed administration and contractors to proceed with repairs and completion activities.
