Class-action firm urges PFAS testing in Spring Valley raw water; July 31 sign-up deadline

Melissa Sims, representing the class-action firm Milberg, addressed the council on June 15 and urged the city to consider PFAS testing. Sims told council members that "even though our treated water does not contain PFAS our raw water may as other communities near the river have tested positive," and said Milberg will pay for testing and pursue claims if contamination is detected.
She warned that there is a July 31, 2026 deadline to be included in the litigation the firm is coordinating. Council members did not take an immediate vote on engaging testing through the firm; staff-level follow-up and any decision to authorize testing or legal participation would be an administrative matter for the city.
The presentation served as an informational notice to the council; any decision about testing, legal claims or public communication would be handled through staff and future council action if required.
