Council authorizes emergency pump rebuild, WWTP air-conditioning repair and approves PFAS litigation retainer

On July 9 the council adopted Resolution #962 to accept a proposal to rebuild a pump at the municipal water treatment plant (motion #15426, moved by Alderman Jeff Chiaventone, seconded by Alderman Ken Bogacz), recorded as a 7-0 vote. Separately, on July 20 the council authorized Chapman to perform an emergency air-conditioning repair at the wastewater treatment plant for up to $9,500 (motion #15439) on an 8-0 vote.
Counseling the council on legal exposure, the council adopted Resolution #963 to approve an attorney-client retainer agreement for PFAS litigation and settlement work (motion #15427, moved by Alderman Dave Pellegrini, seconded by Alderman Ed Jauch), recorded as a 7-0 vote. Engineering staff also noted related system items: Chamlin & Associates reported that EPA funding for a well and watermain replacement has been set up and permits are in place, and that Water Well Solutions indicated it would like to exit its maintenance contract; Chamlin recommended keeping the contract for the final year.
