Town staff to apply for USDA disaster funds to help wastewater upgrades

David Upson, the town leader, told the board the USDA recently announced disaster funding and that the statewide allocation for DR 47 20 totals $15,000,000; he asked the board for approval to begin application steps so the town can pursue stacking funds for its wastewater plant.
Upson said the funding is competitive and prioritized for certain towns; he added there is a second disaster fund of $8,000,000 that may also be relevant and that he would work with state FEMA consultants and the RD Apply portal because awards are processed on a first-come, first-served basis.
