Adducci said residents request planning that begins with a community vision, not a developer site plan, and asked council members who represent wards on the east side to "vote no" on any decision that would lock in the corridor's character for generations. Sue Doherty, president of a subdivision HOA, told the council the proposal (referred to in public comments as the Shops of Pheasant Run) did not reflect neighborhood sentiment and warned that adding uses such as a truck stop and additional car washes could increase noise, traffic and pollution at Route 64.
Several speakers said the master plan would combine multiple parcels into one approval and remove the chance for residents to review or object to individual developments. The council did not take formal action on the master plan during the Aug. 3 meeting; public comments on the proposal were recorded during the public-comment period.
