Health department forms sanitarian advisory group; nurse passes registered sanitarian exam

The Vernon County Health Department announced formation of a sanitarian advisory group intended to bring restaurant owners, land-and-watershed stakeholders and community members into food and environmental safety discussions. Director (S1) said 11 people were invited and six have accepted so far.
S1 also announced a staff certification milestone: "Caitlin Smith, our registered nurse, has passed her registered sanitarian exam," S1 said, praising the achievement as a significant step for the department's capacity in environmental health. The new advisory group will provide community feedback on practices and help the department communicate inspection priorities.
Staff said the advisory group will begin meeting and the department will circulate the first issue of a new sanitarium program newsletter in January. No formal action was required; the board received the report.
