The Nederland Independent School District Board of Trustees opened its Oct. 21 meeting by recognizing school principals and PTA presidents as part of National Principals Month. Superintendent Dr. Stuart Kieschnick named principals from Nederland High School, Central Middle, C.O. Wilson Middle School, Hillcrest Elementary, Langham Elementary and Helena Park Elementary; Sissy Dainwood of Highland Park was unable to attend and Geri Hotchkiss accepted her certificate on her behalf.
Langham Elementary Principal Heather Barrow introduced several students who described the campus social contract used with the Capturing Kids' Hearts curriculum and asked the board to sign the contract for Langham. The minutes do not record verbatim quotations from the students; this paragraph summarizes the engagement as recorded in the meeting minutes. The recognition and campus showcase were presented during the Superintendent's report section of the agenda.
