Demographic study projects strong growth for Navarro ISD; bond planning cited

A demographic presentation from Zonda Education at the Nov. 18 board meeting warned of sustained, rapid enrollment increases that will shape facilities planning and bond recommendations. Presenter Bob Templeton reported an approximate 10% annual growth rate in district enrollment, 17 actively building subdivisions, 11 future subdivisions, over 500 multifamily units under construction and more than 890 future multifamily units; with that level of development Zonda projects Navarro ISD could reach about 5,500 students within 10 years.
Superintendent's office data provided at the same meeting showed current enrollment as of Nov. 15, 2024 at 2,704 students with an attendance rate of 94.85% (Elementary 726; Intermediate 672; Jr. High 605; High School 701). The board said the demographic data will be reviewed by the December Bond Oversight/Facilities Planning Committee meeting to inform a ten-year plan to address facility needs.
