LCO reports clinic staff additions, sober‑living beds and plans for supportive housing and nursing home

Lorraine Gauthier (LCO representative) briefed the Sawyer County HHS Board on tribal health and housing developments, describing staff additions, ongoing recovery services and near‑term community events.
"She started on June 8, and, she is a retired commissioned officer after 25 years of service and brings extensive experience from IHS and tribal health programs," Lorraine said of new clinic health director Josie Begay. Lorraine also described a 10‑bed men's sober‑living program, a 22‑bed emergency shelter that is typically full, continued MAT services and an Aug.10 annual health fair open to the community.
Lorraine said the tribe is "looking into building a nursing home" and is moving forward with supportive housing she estimated could include about 30 single‑ and family‑unit apartments, with a two‑year target if timelines hold. Board members acknowledged these developments as potential local capacity improvements for long‑term care and behavioral‑health support.
