Natalia ISD board certifies Nov. 5 election, swears in trustees and reorganizes officers

The Honorable Tommy Ramirez issued Certificates of Election to Eric Smith, Fernando Garza and Tracy Myers, and administered the oath of office to each newly elected trustee. Following the canvass and oaths, the board moved to reorganize its officers. Gordon Gentry nominated Eric Smith for president; Tiffany Rodriguez moved to approve the nomination and Paul Almendarez seconded. The motion was recorded as passing with the minutes notation "Motion passes 6-1 and 1 abstention."
Tracy Myers nominated Danielle Alderete for vice president but board action instead confirmed Tiffany Rodriguez as vice president after a motion by Paul Almendarez and a second by Fernando Garza (recorded as passing 6-1 with one abstention). For secretary, an ordered vote between nominees resulted in Gordon Gentry being elected after sequential ballots were taken (the minutes record a 1 for, 5 against and 1 abstention for one nominee and a subsequent vote that passed 4-2 for the other nominee).
