Commissioners discussed multiple options for the commission booth at the Aug. 24 picnic, including a prize game, face painting and informational displays to introduce residents to the commission and recruit volunteers. Acting chair Yohan Jacob described earlier examples of the commission's past activities such as an ice-cream station and cake walk and suggested a game with prizes and sunscreen giveaways.
Staff offered items from city supplies and proposed two-person rotations to run activities and face painting. The commission agreed the booth could combine a game and face painting and that staff would help by supplying a canopy and some branded materials; commissioners agreed to meet outside this session to prepare posters and event materials.
