Residents press city on noise, emergency access and property impacts at Highway 61 open house

A firefighter in the room and other attendees questioned how emergency vehicles would make left turns or cross medians. Robert Jones said the team will design mountable medians and include a flashing beacon at a key location so emergency vehicles can mount the median safely when necessary. "We're gonna make that median mountable so that 5% of the time ... the fire department will have a light there with a flashing beacon, and they can mount it," Jones said.
Residents also pressed staff on property impacts and timing; Jones noted three properties near 316 had been acquired for a retention pond and said demolition and contractor staging in those locations could happen soon.
