The Monterey County Board of Education reported that the interdistrict transfer appeal for student 2052605 was denied for the 2025–26 school year. The decision was announced when the board returned to open session following closed session and was communicated to the family with direction to county staff for assistance finding other placement options in Monterey, Seaside or Marina.
"That student 2052605 shall not be allowed to attend the Carmel Unified School District for the 02/2526 school year," the board president said in the report out. The board stated Carmel had expressed concerns that its district was full for honors or AP classes, which influenced the decision; trustees encouraged the family to contact Dr. Porras for help finding a suitable school.
