Mr. Godwin presented the district’s monthly financial report and the first reading of the fiscal‑year 2026 budget. “Right at 69,000 $69,000,000,” he said as he introduced overall figures, and later summarized key balances: “General funds ending balance, July 31, right at $51,500,000 for the 10th month of the year, equating to a 6.5 months reserve.” Godwin walked the board through revenue sources, including state funds (foundation program), federal program allocations, local revenues such as the county one‑cent sales tax, and a projected total revenue figure across funds of about $117,000,000.
The presentation included expected allocations by function (instruction ~$67.7M, operations and maintenance ~$9.4M, transportation ~$6.8M) and capital project balances (about $11.3M to start the year). Godwin also described enrollment accounting (ADM) and said the district’s counted enrollment last year was in the 7,600–7,700 range, which drives teacher units and foundation funding. He warned that some state line items are volatile and that local discretion is limited for many earmarked funds. The first reading drew no formal vote on adoption; the board approved the financial report on a separate motion and scheduled a second reading next week.
