Paducah ISD board adopts balanced 2025–26 budget, sets tax rate at $0.6822

At its Aug. 21 meeting, the Paducah ISD Board of Trustees voted unanimously to adopt a balanced budget for the 2025–26 school year and to set the tax rate for maintenance and operations at $0.6822.
Jenny Smith presented the proposed budget, summarizing revenues and expenditures previously reviewed at the Aug. 7 budget workshop and in an Ascender report. "Mrs. Smith read the total revenues and total expenditures for fund 199 and 240, and reiterated that the budget would be balanced this year," the minutes record. Laura Bratton moved to adopt the budget and Dale Whitaker seconded; the motion carried, all for.
The board also approved the Truth in Taxation appendix as presented. Jody Piper moved and Laura Bratton seconded the motion to approve the appendix; the motion passed unanimously. Later in the meeting, the board adopted the resolution setting the 2025–26 tax rate "at $0.6822 for the purpose of Maintenance and Operations and $0.00 for the purpose of payment of principal and interest on debts," a motion moved by Jody Piper and seconded by Laura Bratton that carried 4–0.
Board members did not record any dissenting comments during the vote; the minutes list four trustees present who voted in favor. The district will begin the new budget year on Sept. 1 per standard fiscal timelines.
