Developers explain 12,735 sq ft expansion and minor roof raise at 530 Community Drive

An application to amend the previously approved site plan for a large commercial building at 530 Community Drive drew detailed questions from the Development Review Board on July 7. The proposal would add 12,735 square feet of general commercial space to a project previously approved at roughly 275,000 square feet; the change includes relocating a CNC operation into the addition and a local roof step-back roughly 20–25 feet from the building edge.
Alex Gagnon of Beta Technologies explained the change saying, "It doesn't actually raise the cooling tower." He and other project team members told the board the raised roof section is about 9 feet taller in that portion and remains under the 39-foot threshold that applies in the area. Staff noted the packet included an overlay received after publication and said it will "trust and verify" the assertion by reviewing updated elevations and the full revised plan before the board takes final action. The board voted to close the hearing on this continued item and will deliberate and notify the applicant with conditions after staff confirms the revised materials.
