Hillsdale board discusses raising zoning fees, flags very low driveway permit fee

The board considered a proposal to increase zoning-board application fees from $50 to $100 and to set a short-term rental permit fee at $300 to cover inspection and online processing costs. Chair (S1) said the changes reflect inspection costs and that online processing fees justify the higher charge.
Members warned that some current fees โ notably a $25 driveway-permit and certificate-of-compliance fee โ are too low to incentivize proper inspections and compliance. Committee member (S3) noted low fees can reduce compliance among low-income residents and urged consideration of reduced-fee options for hardship cases. The board agreed to have staff (Richard and Arun) review fee alignments and bring recommended adjustments to a future meeting.
