Commission told ALDOT agreement finalized for Riverside (Depot Street) bridge replacement

Clay reported that St. Clair County has secured the agreement with ALDOT for the Riverside bridge replacement on Depot Street and that county staff will bring an engineering services agreement to the commission by the end of the month.
"Of course, that's the bridge replacement in Riverside, and we have finally have that agreement," Clay said when describing the project's status. He estimated the bulk of planning and right‑of‑way work would take most of the coming year and that the cast‑and‑place culvert phase of construction could close the road for around six months.
Commissioners asked about the expected duration of traffic interruptions; Clay responded the major culvert placement should take about six calendar months. The commission agreed to place the item on the agenda for formal action and for staff to return with a detailed contract recommendation.
