Council to workshop radio-grounds agreement after debate with Lions Club

The mayor described the earlier proposal as "outrageous" and said taxpayers should not subsidize club events. Lions Club representatives said the club is willing to fund arena lighting and to host volunteer workdays; one representative said the club would pay for new lights and handle upkeep. "We're good for this year," a club member said, adding that the club planned a workday and had scheduled a contractor to install lights.
Council agreed to hold a workshop (timing to follow the budget process) to draft a fair written agreement that specifies responsibilities and fees. The council did not adopt a new agreement during the meeting.
