School committee approves second readings of several policies, excludes graduation policy for further review

The Rockport School Committee voted April 2 to accept clean versions of a set of policies after a second reading, but excluded one policy on graduation competency determination (IKF) for additional work and a later vote.
Administration told the committee the only change to the evening’s plan was procedural: "The only change that we'll make to tonight's plan is when we take the motion. We're gonna exclude IKF," the superintendent said during the presentation of the second reads. A committee member moved to accept the clean versions of the policies on the agenda; another member seconded, and the committee voiced approval.
Policy-subcommittee members said they had completed approximately one-third of Section J and scheduled two additional meetings to finish their work before returning recommendations to the full committee. Committee members were invited to submit close reads or edits ahead of the final vote on the remaining policy.
The motion to accept the clean versions (excluding IKF) carried; administration said the IKF policy will be updated based on competency-determination information and come back for a second read.
