Planners present draft Housing Action Plan; staff say it aligns with HB 1220 and SB 5248

"This housing action plan... also aligns with Washington state's recent housing bills such as HB 1220 and SB 5248," Sosa said, noting the bills require jurisdictions to accommodate growth and enable the Department of Commerce to audit action plans for compliance. Staff described outreach modes including focus groups, community events and online activities on the EngageBothell platform; planners said the draft is posted for public feedback and the tentative adoption target is December 2026.
Commissioners offered general support and no substantive objections during the meeting; staff indicated follow‑up engagement through summer events (alumni block party May 30, Bothell Landing events, downtown sub‑area open house July 22) will inform the final draft.
