Julie, program director for older adults, told the council that senior programming has expanded with three major luncheons (senior picnic, Thanksgiving and Christmas) serving nearly 100 seniors each, twice‑monthly community meals (25–45 attendees), indoor walking at the fairgrounds and a 55+ hiking club that has nearly 96 people on its email list.
Julie said volunteers have stepped forward to support the senior center reopening and that the reopening will allow more programming, including a senior swim night at Maple Street Pool and intergenerational events such as high school–hosted dances for seniors. “Our 3 biggest luncheons of the year … we served almost a 100 seniors at each of those this year,” Julie said. Council members praised the partnerships and expressed excitement about the senior center’s pending reopening and the program expansion.
