Recreation Advisory Committee reports returning membership, program outreach and capacity concerns

Bridget Meyer, chair of the Recreation Advisory Committee, briefed the council on Feb. 11 about the reconstituted committee’s work since April. Meyer said the committee met EJRP staff, toured facilities and has engaged community members across ages; she reported more than 300 people attended a recent community dinner and that the group is focused on advising EJRP on programs, parks and facility needs.
Meyer listed program pressures: limited physical space for camps and other activities, staff recruitment and retention challenges, and the committee’s intention to provide advisory feedback on program priorities. She encouraged residents to consider joining the committee and described it as a mix of teens, parents and long‑time volunteers that helps shape programming. “So I'm Bridget Meyer. I live on Pleasant Street and I am the chair of the Rec Advisory Committee,” Meyer said when introducing herself. The council thanked the committee for its outreach and work.
